December 2008 - A Year of Giving Back
SRM gave away nearly $100,000 in services to several local non-profit agencies over the last year. Their missions vary, but they are unified in their ambitions to make the world a better place.
We’ve had the honor of serving the following organizations this year:
Molly’s Fund Fighting Lupus
Molly’s Fund Fighting Lupus’s mission is to educate the public and the medical community about lupus, to push for earlier, life-saving diagnoses for those afflicted, and to spur governments and foundations to fund research toward a cure. Lupus is more common than leukemia, multiple sclerosis, cystic fibrosis and muscular dystrophy combined; it afflicts from 1.5 to 2 million Americans.
Our work has included copy and graphics for websites, print materials, fundraisers, and other events.
Sisters of the Road
Since 1979, the original goals of Sisters have remained unchanged:
- To be a safe, public place for everyone, especially women and children
- To offer nourishing meals at little cost or in exchange for labor
- To offer employment experience to local individuals experiencing homelessness and extreme poverty in our community.
We provided design services for the 20th Anniversary of their Winterfolk concert fundraiser.
Children’s Relief Nursery
Children’s Relief Nursery has provided family support services at no cost to high-risk Multnomah County families since 2001. Their mission is to prevent abuse and neglect in children birth through four by partnering with caregivers committed to strengthening their families.
Since 2003, SRM has provided graphic design services to support their annual fundraiser, Portland’s Original Iron Chef.
City Club of Portland
Throughout its 92-year history, City Club has had a long record of shaping civic life in Portland. It’s mission: to inform its members and the community in public matters and to arouse in them a realization of the obligations of citizenship.
This year, we provided City Club with graphic design services for a major update to their web site, which is currently underway.
Architectural Heritage Center
The Architectural Heritage Center is a non-profit resource center for historic preservation. They help people appreciate, restore, and maintain the vintage homes, neighborhoods, and buildings that make the Portland area such a special place to live.
Our work for them has included layout of a quarterly print newsletter and a major overhaul of the organization’s website.
SMART (Start Making a Reader Today)
Smart believes, and we agree, that every Oregon child should be able to read and be empowered to succeed. Their mission is to engage community volunteers to read one-on-one with K-3 children who need literacy support.
We provided consulting services as a part of SMART’s Marketing Committee.
