November 2008 - SRM Receives Seattle Design Center Award

Whole House Award

We are pleased to announce that SRM Architecture and Marketing, Inc. was recently awarded second place in the category of Whole House (project budget under $400,000) at the Northwest Design Awards Competition. This regional competition recognizes designers, architects and students on the basis of problem solving, creativity, quality of design and beauty of interior space.

The project team, lead by SRM partner Michael Stueve, took on the challenge of transforming a 1,000 square foot 1980's condominium into an elegant entertainment space suitable for large groups.

Central to the design was a plan to remove a constricting hallway closet to accommodate a new seating and art niche. The team then repurposed floor space allotted for a dining table in order to increase the usability of the space.  The home now features a multi-purpose casual reading and dining area with a floor-to-ceiling built-in beverage and wine bar. Finally, a dramatically rebuilt galley kitchen transformed the space into a spectacular small home that seats fifteen guests comfortably.
